RESIDENTS are being asked to scale new heights to help raise cash for a vital national charity which helps thousands of people in the area.

The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) will be holding sponsored abseiling sessions at Grosvenor House, Prospect Hill on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8.

No experience is needed as full instruction will be given by qualified instructors on the day.

People must pay £10 to take part and are asked to raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship.

Participants will also be able to get into the fun of the event by abseiling to music such as the themes from Wonder Woman or Mission Impossible.

One of the Redditch companies taking part in the abseil is Hymatic Engineering.

RNIB provides more than 60 essential services to help local blind and partially sighted children and adults lead more independent lives.

Last year, a new employment and education centre opened in Birmingham which also serves the people of Redditch, offering training, information and support services for parents and professionals working with and for visually impaired children and young people.
