Whenever our secretary goes on holiday, she takes several rolls of film which she later presents as a lecture.

One of her last excursions was that of an opera holiday in Prague and on April 17, she selected about 50 of these slides to take us on an imaginary journey to Prague.

She described it as one of the most beautiful cities that she had ever seen. It is situated in a narrow valley on the Moldau, spreading on to neighbouring heights.

Almost every building in the centre is ornate and it has many old palaces and ancient churches. Charles Bridge is to Prague what Big Ben is to London, it is lined with statues and the views across the river are superb.

Although she went to Prague only a few weeks after the floods, everywhere was clean and tidy with very little evidence of the disaster.

This was the last of our winter lectures. Our first summer outing is a weekend in Ipswich on May 17 and 18, which includes a visit to Sutton Hoo. New members are welcome, call the secretary on 541317.
