PEOPLE from the French town of Voiron will be visiting Droitwich Spa to look into the possibility of building a twinning partnership.
The Droitwich Spa steering group looking at the possibility of a twinning with Voiron will welcome a delegation on February 18.
Voiron is very active in the European twinning movement, being already twnning with towns in Croatia, Germany and Italy. The chairman of their Twinning group , Francoise Tignel, will be coming with Suzy Guillard and Pierre Micol of the Voiron English club.
They will spend three days meeting town people and aim to see what Droitwich has to offer in the way of cultural and sporting activities.
The Spa steering group has put together a list of people and places for them to visit. These will include a walk along the Town Trail followed by tea in the mayor’s parlour, and also see the young firefighters group in training at the fire station and the rehearsals at the Norbury Youth Theatre.
If everything progresses well, a reciprocal visit to Voiron will probably follow in March.
A meeting for all people interested will then be arranged to agree a way forward for twinning with the French town. Anyone who feels they might be able to help to support twinning in the future is invited to contact Jenny Hazlewood on 01905 796201.
