STOURBRIDGE chairman Ian Pilkington believes Saturday’s FA Cup game with Walsall could net the club more than £20,000.

The Glassboys have already raked in nearly £30,000 in prize money alone from their historic FA Cup run.

Pilkington revealed the club stands to make a healthy amount from ticket sales and advertising ahead of the big game.

He said: “Obviously the gate receipts will have to be shared with Walsall so it’s not as much as people think.

“The TV deal is a significant amount and we stand to make a lot of money from advertising.

"With the game being chosen for TV highlights lots of people want to be on advertising boards around the ground. We could pull in around £15,000, it's really taken off.

“We could well gross over £20,000 but until the game is over and everything is added up we won’t really know for sure.”

The club got the go ahead to stage the game at the War Memorial Ground after discussions with the authorities.

Pilkington admitted organising the fixture had thrown up a number of unusual logistical problems, such as printing tickets, for the Glassboys staff.

He said: “It’s been hectic to say the least.

“Trying to do a full-time job and organising the FA Cup game at the same time, is something you don’t realise how hard it is going to be until it hits you.

“But it’s all coming together now and I’m confident Saturday will be a great day.”

Pilkington, who was appointed chairman in the summer, also revealed his delight at the achievement of Gary Hackett and the team.

He added: “It’s history, 133 years is a long time and do it this year is fantastic.

“At the start of the season me and Gary had a chat and the FA Cup was mentioned.

“I think for every manager at Stourbridge the FA Cup is a big aim.

“To do it in my first season as chairman is something you would not imagine in a million years.”
