A SPA teenager is set for a American adventure as she attempts to make a difference to the lives of kids across the Atlantic.
Eighteen-year-old Jennifer Hughes, from Barns Croft Way, Droitwich, has flown out to work at a summer camp for American children with diasbilities.
She has left the Spa heading for Camp Hemlock, located on 100 acres of beautiful woodlands in Connecticut. Jennifer will be working with people of all ages with various disabilities through the Camp America scheme.
Camp America gives youths a chance to work in the US during the summer.
Jennifer, who is currently studying media at Worcester College of Technology, attended the Camp America fair in Manchester and after meeting with the camp directors, walked away with a position as a special needs counsellor.
Jennifer said: “I am very pleased, excited and anxious to get there. I’m really looking forward to working with the children.”
Summer camp is an action lover’s paradise with positions available in an enormous range of activities, from drama and music to sports and extreme sports, computing and even circus skills.
If you are interested in applying for a summer camp position visit the Camp America website www.campamerica.co.uk and complete an online application.
