VANDALS smashed through a park wall that has recenly been decorated with a mural by town youngsters.
Police in Droitwich are hunting the heartless culprits who damaged the artwork in Lido Park.
The incident took place sometime over the weekend beginning Friday, June 19.
Damage was caused to two sections of the wall that will now need repairing and repainting.
Community support officer Andrea Leslie teamed up with the Prince’s Trust Team 122 Bromsgrove and Worcester College of Technology to create the spring and summer sections of the ‘seasons’ themed work of art between May 18 and May 22.
The team, complete with two artists, spent five days at the park as part of their community project and team challenge and were encouraged by the resident that owns the wall which separates her garden from the park.
CSO Leslie said: “It was so nice to see local kids doing something positive for their area, they were really proud of their achievements. To see it damaged was very upsetting and I know that some of the kids involved are really upset and angry.
“A mindless few have ruined everyone’s hard work and we would like to hear from anyone who has any information on who may be responsible for vandalising the wall to please contact us.
“Thankfully work is already underway to reinstate the wall back to its original condition.”
The second phase of the mural - involving St Peter’s School and Droitwich High School painting the two missing seasons of autumn and winter - is set to follow later in the year.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000, quoting 801/S/190609 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
