THE Redditch Orchestra is set to be joined by Russian violinist Anna Ovsyanikova to perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in a concert on Saturday, June 20, at Kingsley College, Redditch .

Born into a musical family in St Petersburg, Anna began studying the violin from the age of six.

In 2005 she graduated from the St Petersburg State Conservatory and was granted a full scholarship to study in the UK at The Birmingham Conservatoire.

As a soloist, Anna has made her international debut in Romania, playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto and her Birmingham Symphony Hall debut playing Lark Ascending with Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra in April 2009.

At the moment she is preparing to move to London to do her postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music.

The concert starts at 7.30pm will also include a performance of the popular New World Symphony by Anton Dvorak and also the Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mendelssohn.

Tickets cost £7, £6 for concessions and £20 for a family ticket for two adults and two children and are available from the Redditch Orchestra Members and on the door.
