A WORCESTER publican is appealing for teams to join this year’s Cancer Research Relay For Life.
Event chairman and manager of the Barn Owl Phil Heimes is hoping to raise more than £25,000 for Cancer Research during the event, which sees teams of eight to 15 people complete a 24-hour relay around the Nunnery Wood athletics track.
Mr Heimes said: “The fun event always attracts big crowds, but without the teams it cannot happen. I strongly urge groups of friends and local businesses to get on board and enter.
“With cancer affecting one in three people it really is a cause people cannot ignore.”
A fun day is being held at the Barn Owl, Berkeley Way, Warndon, Worcester, on Saturday, May 23, to kick-start the fund-raising.
The relay starts on Saturday, September 12. To enter a team or organise a fund-raising event, register at cancerresearchuk.org/ relay/venues/worcester or e-mail Kim Gandy at kimg13@hotmail.co.uk.
