A SCHOOL based in a Worcestershire market town is celebrating maintaining its specialist college status following a good Ofsted inspection.
Tenbury High School staff and pupils are delighted with the recent letter which told them the school was redesignated as a Specialist Science and Mathematics College.
Specialist schools are regularly inspected to ensure they maintain the highest standards which qualify them for the status and additional funding.
Headteacher Stuart Cooke said he was delighted with the award which recognises the good work of the school and provides funding of up to £130,000 a year.
He said: “The school would like to thank, particularly, the local businesses, including Kingspan, QinetiQ, Skillbuilders, Bowketts and Frank P Matthews, to name just a few, and also the many community supporters for their help in enabling the school to keep its specialist status. This is particularly important to the current pupils and to the pupils who will enter the school in future. The school is justly proud of its community links. To quote from the Ofsted Inspection, ‘One of the many outstanding features is the way students take part in the life of their local community’.”
The school received the letter of confirmation from the Specialist Schools Designation Team in which they congratulate Tenbury High School on its significant achievement and wished everyone success in the years ahead.
Mr Cooke said: “We pride ourselves on being a caring, supportive, academically challenging and high performing school, and we can now continue serving our pupils and our community to the best of our ability.”
