AN inspection report on a Worcester college has been graded as good with many features described as good or outstanding.

The Ofsted report for the Worcester Sixth Form College has revealed it gives a good grade in effectiveness of provision.

The students’ high standard of work and its teachers were praised in the report.

However, the college, while making efforts to improve accommodation within the constraints of its budget, was deemed to have poor and cramped classrooms.

The report said: “The college’s arrangements for meeting students’ additional learning needs are outstanding. Many students’ additional learning needs are outstanding.”

This is an important part of the college’s mission to “support individual students in achieving their full potential”.

The report said: “The college’s response to meeting the needs and interests of students is outstanding. It provides a very broad range of courses for students aged 16 to 18 at level 3 [A-levels and Btec], including a suitable range of vocational options.”

The Ofsted report also mentioned the college’s outstanding range of enrichment activities, such as trips, visits and exchanges, along with its excellent careers advice and guidance.

Principal Michael Kitcatt said he was thrilled the Ofsted report picked out so many good and outstanding features of the college.

In particular he was delighted the high quality of achievement and standards and of teaching and learning had been recognised.

He said: “The report provides further evidence that Worcester Sixth Form College is providing an outstandingly broad range of courses and opportunities for students and is supporting students of all abilities in achieving their full potential, including progression to some of the most competitive universities such as Oxford and Cambridge.”
