THANKS to a fantastic £85,500 grant from the Monument Trust (part of The Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts), Worcester’s Swan Theatre will have new seats in the auditorium as part of the ongoing refurbishment.

The grant could not have come at a better time, allowing the work to take place while the theatre is closed for the refurbishment of the roof and air-handling system.

The seats currently in the theatre have been there since the theatre opened in 1965, and are showing understandable signs of wear and tear. The new seating will be covered in a hardwearing and attractive blue fabric, which will last for many years to come - and be a lot more comfortable than the current seats.

The Swan’s Chris Jaeger said: “This is the most fabulous piece of news, and means that when the Swan reopens in June, audiences will really be able to see, and feel, the difference!”

We are extremely grateful to the trustees of The Monument Trust for making it possible.'
