The owner of a popular Worcester toy shop has no plans to retire after his business celebrated its 30th anniversary. 

It has been a week of celebration and reflection at Toys and Games in Worcester after the business hit 30 years of trading.

Tim Evans started the business in 1994 with only £300 in his pocket and a passion for movies.

(Image: Toys and Games Worcester)It led him to start selling video cassettes in the outdoor market in Pershore and, since then, the business has not just grown but evolved along with the times.

"Everything has changed for all professions, like teaching or those in the police force, and our store is no longer the same as when it started," said Mr Evans.

(Image: Toys and Games Worcester)"I am still pleased every day to come to work, and I may not have the same endless energy, but I still have my enthusiasm.

"When I was a little boy at Red Hill Primary School, I always wanted to work for myself, and I am fulfilling that dream every day.

"We may have to adjust the business to ourselves (as more time goes on) as well as the industry, but we have no plans to retire.

"We will keep going forever."

(Image: Toys and Games Worcester)Mr Evans had left his job 30 years ago at Rover Group to fulfil his lifelong dream, and he said part of his independent business' success was that "failure was never an option".

The business had evolved from selling video cassettes under Evans Video to DVDs and then finally to toys.

It then moved to various locations before finally moving to Worcester 20 years ago.

"Anyone can start their own businesses with hard graft and maybe some luck.

"I wouldn't want to miss any memory of Toys and Games for the world, and I am blessed every day I come to work."
