The story features devil-may-care Lady Susan, a coquettish black widow, who is on a quest for not one, but two, fortunes.

Other characters are the oppressed and rebellious daughter Frederica, long-suffering sister-in-law Catherine, the family matriarch Mrs De Courcy, and insouciant best friend, Alicia.

The dark comedy highlights the trapped women of Georgian society, their struggles, desires, temptations and manipulations.

At the vanguard, Lady Susan, charming, scheming, witty, and powerful takes on society to make it her own.

Nonetheless, the audience will be left to wonder whether she has met her match.

The production is performed by Rebecca Vaughan (Christmas Gothic, Female Gothic, Austen’s Women, I, Elizabeth, A Room of One’s Own) and directed by Andrew Margerison (A Frantic Assembly’s Fatherland, Macbeth).
