A WEST Country band which has played at Glastonbury Festival will head up the M5 to entertain the Worcester public next month.

The Leylines, compared to bands such as The Levellers, will be live at The Marr’s Bar, Pierpoint Street, with the doors opening at 8pm on Saturday, March 2.

The group produces a genre-defying, violin and guitar-driven sound that ranges from folk and indie to full-blown festival rock.

It was founded in 2013 by musicians combining their individual musical styles into something that isn’t quite folk, sort of punk but 100 per cent heart-pounding revelry.

The unique sound, combined with lyrics ranging from social issues, life on the road and partying with friends, launched the band into the heart of the UK live music community and made them firm festival favourites.

The Leylines is made up of Steve Mitchell (vocals and rhythm guitar), Hannah McLeod (violin/piano/backing vocals), Dan Thompson (lead guitar/backing cocals), Sean Booth (bass guitar/backing vocals) and Dave Burbidge (drums).

The band released its debut album Along The Old Straight Track in June 2016, produced by Sean Lakeman, recorded at The Metway Studios in Brighton and mixed by Al Scott.

The record has drawn strong comparisons to the likes of The Levellers, Mad Dog Mcrea and Ferocious Dog.

In the following years The Leylines went on many national tours and got booked for Glastonbury Festival 2017, performing six sets in as many days.

They also played stages at Beautiful Days, GoldCoast Oceanfest, Something To Smile About Festival, The Godney Gathering and Big Feastival among others.

The band released its second studio album Recover Reveal in 2019, a collection of sincere, straight-from-the-heart performances.

Tickets, costing £15 in advance, are available from marrsbar.co.uk/events/the-leylines.
