A cycling group will join in with Worcester's Repair Cafe to help fix punctures, tweak brakes and solve other common bike problems.

Bike Worcester announced its New Year’s Resolution to join in with the scheme that runs on the second Saturday of each month.

On Saturday, January 13, 11am-1.30pm, volunteers will be on hand to fix punctures, tweak brakes and gears and offer solutions to other common bike issues.

Bike Worcester volunteer Al Pagan, said: "We’re keen to help people get back on their bikes for leisure, school or work, so they can enjoy the benefits of cycling.

"At this time of year, many people are keen to get out in the fresh air and get active again, but maybe haven’t picked up their bike for a while. Bike Worcester volunteers are happy to help with checking them over and solving common problems.

"We want to help people get their bikes ready, so they can have fun on a bike ride with family or friends. Or enjoy an energising start to the day by travelling to school or work by bike."

Repair cafe sessions take place on the second Saturday of each month at Unity House, Stanley Road, WR5 1BE.

There are also regular monthly events in Worcester City that adults and families can join in with to build their cycling confidence such as Critical Mass, slow bike ride around the city on January 20, 10.15am, from Croft Road Car Park and Kidical Mass, an organised family bike ride.

Bike Worcester is a dedicated group set up five years ago to promote safe and accessible cycling in Worcester. Working in partnership with Crowngate Shopping Centre, Bike Worcester volunteers meet on Wednesday evenings in a former vacant unit in Friary Walk to service and refurbish bikes, that are made available to people who might otherwise struggle to afford one.

The Repair Cafe was set up by Transition Worcester, with support of the Duckworth Trust and volunteers. It takes place every month and they fix anything from shirts to shears, from toys to toasters and from clocks to cushions. Refreshing tea and coffee, and delicious cakes are also available. They welcome new volunteer repairers too.
