COLLECTORS and residents have been snapping up copies of the city's new Monopoly board which celebrates Worcester's landmarks.

Sales of the Worcester Monopoly board have been 'strong' ever since its launch event in the city centre.

On Saturday, November 18, Toys and Games of Worcester, in Broad Street, hosted the launch event for the new game.

Crowds filled a pop-up shop on Broad Street to see the grand reveal of the city's board game which was designed by the team at Toys and Games of Worcester.

The board features longstanding businesses and landmarks throughout the city such as the Elgar Statue in Cathedral Square and Worcestershire Sauce - and also includes the Worcester News and The Berrows Worcester Journal.

Tim Evans, owner of Toys and Games of Worcester, said: "Sales were really strong on the day, and they have continued to be strong as well going forward which is brilliant.

"It means a lot for me as a business owner - it is not just a product, it is a Worcester product.

"To be involved in making something unique for Worcester has been so special.

"It is not something like a cuddly toy or a plastic toy, it is something that encompasses the city and it really belongs to the city as well."

Mr Evans said the launch of the game was "fantastic" and the success was the result of a lot of hard work.

He said: "It was a fantastic event that took a lot of hard work going into it and getting everything in place for the big day.

"We had the Mayor of Worcester (Cllr Louis Stephen) unveil the new board and we had a surprise appearance from Mr Monopoly, who posed for pictures with attendees.

"We are also really grateful to our neighbours N'gai's Violins for letting us use their shop next door for the launch event."

Launch event guests also included four lucky winners who had won a Worcester News competition to get their hands on the game.

Toys and Games of Worcester wanted the new board to last generations and kept this in mind when designing it.

Mr Evans said the Monopoly board will be in stock throughout the festive period for anyone who is looking to grab their own.
