A new ‘Boozy Book Club’ is set to open in Worcester later this month - offering book lovers an exciting cocktail evening with author John Crawshaw.

The event will take place at The Script Haven, on High Street, run by former Worcestershire Poet Laureate Leena Batchelor.

John Crawshaw will be showcasing his debut Romance novel, The Swing, on October 26 - with a handcrafted cocktail available too while readers soak up the atmosphere.

It will be the third ‘Boozy Book Club’ to take place in the West Midlands, since being launched by the marketing company, Talking Tortoise.

The event was created by mum-of-three, Jessica Blyth-Sweetingham to offer a platform to independent authors from across the region.

“Our recent events in Alcester and in Stratford-upon-Avon have been an incredible success, and the feedback was phenomenal. We expect the venue in Worcester to be a brilliant host for the club.’’ said Mrs Blyth-Sweetingham.

Tickets for the ‘Boozy Book Club’ at the venue are now on sale with the first meeting taking place on Thursday, October 26. Ticket holders will receive a copy of The Swing and a handcrafted cocktail.

This month’s book which is to be presented is more than symbolic for the Alcester author John, as not only will it mark his success in writing his first novel; but also in battling dyslexia throughout his life.

“I am looking forward to being the door-opener for the ‘Boozy Book Club’ in Worcester which I believe is to become a great success and a lot of joy,” said John.
