OVER 30 fruit trees have been planted on a new community orchard in St John's.
Cllr Richard Udall, Cllr Robyn Norfolk and Cllr Matt Lamb have used part of their budgets to fund the orchard at Coles Meadow, adjacent to Solitaire Avenue.
Over thirty new fruit trees have been planted, including Cherry, Apple, and Pear trees.
Cllr Udall said "The orchard is a living memorial to all those who died during the Covid Pandemic in St John's.
"It's dedicated to their memory and is a thank you to all the essential workers who worked so hard during the lockdowns, once established the orchard will provide an abundance of fresh fruit and will significantly improve the area with spring blossom, it will hopefully last for many generations bringing colour and enjoyment for many people".

The councillors worked with the Friends of Laugherne Brook Group and the City Council to ensure the trees are planted.
Cllr Norfolk said: "It was great fun to take part in the planting of the trees, we were helped by members of the local community and by city council employees, the new community orchard will help to bring the community together and the fruit will be free for all to enjoy".
