A MAN who has admitted making hundreds of indecent images of children has been told he could go to jail.

Richie Hoult, of Chequers Close, Stourport, admitted the charges when they were read out to him by a court clerk at Worcester Magistrates Court.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to making 135 category A images, the worst level identified within the sentencing guidelines.

Hoult also admitted making 84 category B images and 259 category C images.

Owen Beale, prosecuting, explained that due to the number of category A images, Hoult was facing a lengthy custodial sentence outside magistrates' sentencing powers, suggesting the case be transferred to the higher court.

Fergus Maxwell, defending Hoult, said Hoult was a man of previous good character asking for a pre-sentence report ahead of sentencing.

Chairman of the magistrates bench, Roger Warrington, said magistrates had found it outside their powers and they would send the case to crown court.

He said magistrates would also grant the report telling Hoult to co-operate with the probation service to help them write it.

Hoult was told to attend Worcester Crown Court on March 24 for his sentencing.

The chairman also told Hoult he would immediately have to register on the sex offenders register, telling him to do this at Kidderminster Police Station.

The case was heard at the court on Tuesday, (February 21).
