A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital following a fire involving five acres of grass near Droitwich.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Doverdale Lane, Doverdale, at about 1.10pm this afternoon (Tuesday, August 7).

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue service gave the man oxygen therapy and West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics treated him for smoke inhalation.

He was taken by ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital in Woodrow Drive, Redditch.

Fire crews from Droitwich, Worcester, Bewdley and Evesham extinguished the blaze using two hosereels, multiple beaters and high pressure lance.
