ALMOST a fifth of people found something offensive on TV last year, figures reveal.

Offensive language, sex/sexual content, discrimination and violence are cited as causing the most offence, followed by nakedness and anti-social behaviour.

A third of adults feel there is too much violence (34 per cent) and too much swearing (33 per cent) on TV.

A FALL in the popularity of soaps is driving an overall decline in mass audience TV figures, research has found.

Regulator Ofcom looked at why the size of audiences for the most popular shows has been falling.

KATY Perry has revealed she suffered from depression following a mixed reaction to her latest album.

Speaking to Vogue Australia, the 33-year-old singer told how she was disappointed with the negative reviews for 2017’s Witness and ended up visiting a “personal growth retreat” in California.

Witness peaked at number six in the UK album charts while her two previous efforts, Prism and Teenage Dream, both reached number one.

UK subscriptions to streaming giants such as Netflix and Amazon have overtaken traditional pay TV subscriptions, such as Sky and Virgin, for the first time.

The change marks a major shift in the UK’s viewing habits, communications regulator Ofcom said.

The total number of UK subscriptions to the three most popular online streaming services – Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now TV – has reached 15.4 million.
