A KIDDERMINSTER resident marked her milestone 100th birthday among family and friends.

Roma Coultas celebrated her birthday on Wednesday, February 21, with a tea party at Holmwood Care Centre on Chaddesley Road.

She has been a resident of the home since 2012 and has lived in Kidderminster since 2000, having previously lived in Barnt Green, Bromsgrove, for 60 years.

Roma was born in Maidstone, Kent, and trained as a dental mechanic when she left school, eventually going on to become a dental nurse.

She worked in a dental practice in Birmingham until she retired aged 60 and was a member of the The British Association Of Dental Nurses - later becoming president.

Roma attended the 60th anniversary of the association in 2000 and, at that time, was believed to be the oldest living president.

She remains an honorary president to this day.

During the Second World War, she also served as a Voluntary Ambulance Attendant and also became an ARP Warden.

The British Association Of Dental Nurses helped her mark her special birthday with flowers, while she also received a card from the Queen.

Carol Thomas, deputy manager, said: “Roma had a very enjoyable day surrounded by family, friends and staff. We would all like to wish Roma a very happy 100th birthday.”
