A EMPOWERING woman event will mark International Women's Day in Worcester.

Bolero Bar and Kitchen in Foregate Street, Worcester will host the event called Empower, including a talk from Cymone Young, owner of the Beauty Pad and Malvern Serenity, about Women in Business.

Emma May of Real World Coaching, who is hosting the event will discuss how to make and create opportunities and there will also be a charity auction.

A description of the event on Facebook said: "Real World Coaching have combined with Malvern Serenity to put on a free event to celebrate, enable and empower the amazing women of Worcestershire.

"We want to empower not only you through this event, but we want to transform the lives of women internationally by supporting the charity Women for Women.

"We will be raising awareness for the work that the charity do throughout the evening, and doing a charity auction to raise money in support.

"'We reach out to women who are often left behind – those who struggle with poverty and violence, who are denied basic education and health care, and who suffer greatly from conflict.

"The women we serve tell us that through our programs, they find new opportunities to strengthen themselves, their families, and their communities.' women for women."

The evening, on Thursday March 8 will start at 7pm with networking, before Ms May will have her talk at 7.30pm.

Ms Young will follow at 8pm before the charity auction at 8.30pm and Ms May will return to talk at 9pm.

International Women's Day is held on Thursday March 8 to mark celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

International Women's Day has occurred for well over a century, with the first? ?March 8? gathering supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.
