POLICE officers warned locals about a spate of parcel thefts in the city in letters delivered to homes last week.

The letters offered crime prevention advice to residents in Diglis, Worcester, following a number of thefts in recent months.

Thieves have been stealing parcels from outside houses and flats.

Police Constable Joe Brooks, of Cathedral Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "In Diglis over the past few months there's been a brief spate of thefts.

"A man was charged with offences and did serve some prison time.

"It's just a crime prevention drop to try and prevent it from happening again in the future.

"We are just trying to combat to stop it happening again. It was just offering crime prevention tips to local residents."

The letter advises residents to consider collecting their packages from 'smart package lockers' or convenience stores, getting parcels sent to workplaces, asking for signed deliveries and installing security cameras.

It also recommends setting a time for deliveries, setting up a communal parcel box and asking a neighbour to accept packages.
