UKIP leader Henry Bolton’s deputy has quit her post in protest at his refusal to step down, it has been reported.

Margot Parker said Mr Bolton should go “sooner rather than later” as he was leaving the party “in a limbo situation”.

Ukip’s ruling executive backed a motion of no confidence in the party leader on Sunday, a week after it emerged his girlfriend had sent racist messages about Meghan Markle.

The Government will announce £70 million of funding to create new manufacturing centres to help speed up the development of medical treatments.

On Monday, science minister Sam Gyimah will set out how the money will go towards creating new medical solutions, including using virtual reality to aid rehabilitation and investing in digital speech therapy solutions for stroke and brain injuries.

During his visit to Imperial College London, Mr Gyimah is expected to see the technology being developed to help patients.

A High Court judge is this week expected to decide whether doctors should stop providing life-support treatment to an 11-month-old boy being cared for at a London hospital.

Specialists at King’s College Hospital say giving further intensive care treatment to Isaiah Haastrup is “futile, burdensome and not in his best interests”.

Isaiah’s mother, Takesha Thomas, and father Lanre Haastrup, want treatment to continue.

Mr Justice MacDonald is scheduled to analyse detailed evidence at a trial in the Family Division of the High Court in London on Monday.
