Residents have raised pollution concerns with the Environment Agency after oil was seen flowing down the River Stour yesterday evening (Sunday, June 18).

A number of people spotted the spillage, which started in Cradley, and were quick to raise the alarm with the environment chiefs.

Wollaston resident Richard Willetts, whose Richardson Drive garden backs onto the river, told the News: “This morning (Monday), I went down to the bottom of my garden at about 7am and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

The hot and sunny weather brought the crowds flocking to Kinver Country Fayre but the scorching temperatures took their toll on visitors.

Andy Calloway, one of the organisers, said a number of people collapsed at yesterday’s fun day due to the heat - and a wrestler, taking part in shows organised by HCW Wrestling, suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated at the ringside.

Swift action is being demanded after travellers set up camp next to a Dudley primary school.

Caravans moved on to the field, off Aintree Way, yesterday (Sunday).

Concerned residents contacted Dudley North MP Ian Austin, who immediately contacted Dudley Council and the police before going to visit the site, next to Milking Bank Primary School.

Armed anti-terrorist police swooped on Kidderminster after a man was found with knives and an axe near the Territorial Army Centre.

The West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit confirmed a 23-year-old man was arrested last night (Sunday June 18) by armed police while in the possession of knives and an axe in Birmingham Road.

A Bromsgrove pensioner claims to have spotted a black panther while walking home from the shops.

David Wherton, aged 68, said he stumbled upon a “muscular” cat-like creature walking down a dried up stream bed between Royal Worcester Crescent and Penshurst Road.

More than 50 jobs are under threat at a Redditch college, where bosses have been forced to make 'efficiency savings' to accommodate budget cuts.

The proposed redundancies at Heart of Worcestershire College will mainly affect support staff across the Redditch, Bromsgrove, Worcester and Malvern campuses and are a result of the falling number of students at further education colleges.
