Replacing the chicken chain’s Amblecote restaurant, the ring-road facing branch – complete with drive-thru – has created more than 40 jobs in the town.

A "greedy" Stourbridge businessman who pocketed nearly £22,000 in a sophisticated income tax fiddle has been jailed for 14 months.

Builder Adam Turner tried to fraudulently pick up another £9.000 but that money was withheld after he was rumbled by an observant tax inspector, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Two men who lied to police about an incident in which a man was killed in Halesowentown centre by a single punch thrown by a workmate have been jailed.

Karl Swift, aged 33, was knocked unconscious by the blow thrown by Dean Hartley and he sustained a badly fractured skull as his head hit the pavement.

The two men had been with four other colleagues in the William Shenstone pub but they were ejected because of their rowdy behaviour.

A Pensnett man has been jailed for more than four years after setting fire to a car parked feet away from a house in a "revenge attack" after he and his girlfriend were thrown out of a birthday party.

Builder John Dalloway, of Tansey Green Road, had downed a cocktail of drink and drugs and he knew there were people inside the property, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Judge Barry Berlin told the 30-year-old, whose criminal record included four previous offences of criminal damage, that he knew the car was "likely to explode like a bomb".

A fire that broke out at the old Texaco petrol station in Bromsgrove this afternoon is being treated as arson by police.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze on Birmingham Road at 1.47pm today (May 15) and two crews from Bromsgrove Fire Station rushed to the scene.

A young man who lost his arm during an incident involving a train travelling to Bromsgrove remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The man's injuries have been described as 'life-changing', after he fell between the train and the platform at Droitwich Spa Railway Station on Friday evening.

A Redditch pervert secretly filmed a woman on the toilet, under a schoolgirl's skirt and downloaded indecent images of children, including one showing a rape.

Window cleaner Paul Dixon, of Foxlydiate Crescent, admitted two counts of voyeurism and one of making indecent images of children when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court.
