PEOPLE living in Worcestershire joined thousands of others for a march in London to show support for the EU.

Liesbeth Edwards, from Hanbury, and Isabelle Michel, from Worcester, were among those who travelled to the capital for the Unite for Europe march.

The march coincided with 60 years since the EU's founding agreement, the Treaty of Rome, was signed.

Protestors took to the streets before a rally was held in Parliament Square, which included a minute's silence in the proceedings to remember those killed in the Westminster attack last week.

Mrs Edwards, who is originally from Holland and moved to England 29 years ago, said: "It was amazing.

"Police estimate there were at least 100,000 people there.

"There was a fantastic atmosphere.

"It was calm and dignified and strangely uplifting to be with so many like-minded people.

"There were good speeches in the sunshine and a one minute's silence for the awful tragedy on Wednesday."

Ms Michel, who originally hails from France, said: "The day went well.

"There was a great atmosphere, witty placards and we felt safe.

"We are hoping for a decent Brexit deal for the three million or so EU nationals living here."

The Prime Minster, Theresa May, is expected to trigger Article 50, the official process for leaving the EU, tomorrow.
