THE manager of a popular dog rehoming charity has thanked people for their amazing generosity after she returned to Droitwich last month.

Sue Boone, who runs Jordan Bear Charity, said she was overwhelmed with the response to the previous Worcester News story which appealed for car boot items after its return to the town.

She moved to Cornwall three years ago to set up kennels in south west Eng;and but health isues meant she had to return to Droitwich.

She thanked everyone who responded to the front page appeal in the Droitwich Advertiser and in the Worcester News.

She said: "We are quickly re-establishing ourselves in the area and, since coming home, we have been delighted to find our old supporters getting in touch to see how they can help.

"Indeed, the response, both from long term supporters and your article, has been so great that we now have a two week waiting list for collections of goods.

"To say we are run off our feet is an understatement but, we are so grateful for the response we've received.

"Every £5 we raise means one day of life for a dog in rescue so it is imperative that the goods keep coming in and people keep responding to our appeals - there is a never ending supply of dogs, in dire circumstances, needing our help.

"Therefore, it follows that we have a never ending need for good quality goods to sell on in order to help them.

"We would like to thank, most sincerely, those people who have taken the time and trouble to deliver their goods to us here at home, thus saving us time and expense in going out on collections and allowing us the freedom to continue working with the dogs.

Jordan Bear collecting cans have been placed in locations across the the town and she thanked the businesses who had agreed to take one.

She added: "It is important to stress that we are not waged, do not take out expenses and that every penny we raise is directed to the rescue, care and rehabilitation of the dogs that pass through our hands.

"What we do, we do for the love of the dogs and our reward is seeing a once broken, frightened and troubled animal successfully turned around and placed in a loving forever home, where they may live out their remaining years in peace and happiness."

The charity thanked the management and staff at Morrisons in Droitwich for hosting them on their fundraising day as well as people who stopped by the stall.

"To everyone involved, we couldn't do this without you - thank you so much on behalf of the dogs."
