STUDENTS have created a biography on the life of a Pershore soldier who died 100 years ago in the Battle of the Somme.

The Pershore High School pupils researched the life of Charles Twigg and wrote poems about the WW1 battle.

Pershore Library will display the children’s work until the end of July as part of the countywide World War 100 project.

Emma Powell, Pershore Library manager, said: “This has been a wonderful project, the students involved have created some moving and inspiring work from their research surrounding Charles Twigg.

“To launch this exhibition 100 years to the day since Charles Twigg lost his life has given us an opportunity to pay tribute to this brave man.

“I would encourage everyone to come to the library and view this exhibition which will end on 31 July.”

The year eight pupils also wrote letters to Mr Twigg, who died on July 23 1916.
