POLICE are hunting suspects in connection with an aggravated burglary in Worcester after armed men burst into a house with baseball bats, injuring two people.

West Mercia Police are hunting four or five men after masked intruders barged their way into a house in Cranham Drive, Warndon, Worcester, armed with baseball bats on Friday (June 17) at around 4.26pm.

Two people were taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, both having suffered minor injuries.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said one casualty suffered a blunt force injury and the other was assessed as a precaution.

A witness said: "They had balaclavas on and they were armed. There was quite a ruckus. We heard shouting. We stood on the other side of the road, watching."

He said two of the people who lived at the address were out shopping at the time the masked men forced their way inside but two other people were believed to be inside at the time.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said nobody had been arrested and police were actively searching for the suspects who fled on foot before officers arrived.

He said: "Police were contacted by a member of the public who saw masked men running past her house.

"It was a group of four to five men who have attended the address and attempted to barge their way in while carrying weapons (baseball bats).

"There has been an altercation in the house and they have run off.

"We are still following a number of lines of enquiry and we would appreciate any assistance from the public."

He said the incident was being investigated as 'aggravated burglary' but it is believed nothing had been taken.
