The UK winner of a £35 million lottery jackpot has decided to remain anonymous.

The lucky ticket-holder, who scooped a life-changing £35,170,063.70, has opted not to go public following their EuroMillions windfall 10 days ago.

National Lottery operator Camelot confirmed the claim from the Friday September 25 draw had been validated and the jackpot prize paid out.

It added that no further details would be released about the ticket-holder's identity.

In a coincidence organisers are calling "an unbelievable run of luck", a second EuroMillions jackpot was won in the UK the following week, on October 2.

This time the amount won was the slightly lower - but not insignificant - sum of £11,065,500.

A National Lottery spokesman said:, "The National Lottery is creating more millionaires than ever before but to have two EuroMillions jackpots won here in as many weeks is truly unbelievable!"

The lucky streak comes ahead of two world record attempts on Wednesday October 7, when National Lottery winners will gather in London to celebrate the creation of 4,000 millionaires.

They are hoping to break the Guinness world record for the largest gathering of lottery millionaires and the longest champagne cork-popping relay.
