A 17-YEAR-old from Cofton Hackett is heading off to Sri Lanka to work as part of team of volunteers for two weeks.

Emily Henderson is joining the High School Specials and Community Project, organized through Projects Abroad.

The organization works with volunteers from 16 to 75 years old, most of whom choose to travel in their gap years or just before or after university, staying with host families in different countries.

It offers a whole range of projects in Sri Lanka ranging from medical placements, to journalism, business, teaching and sports.

Emily said: “This is a big challenge for me personally, I really hope my trip is a big success.”

Peter Slowe, director of Projects Abroad, added: “We are really pleased Emily is doing this. Sri Lanka destination is looking forward very much to meeting her – and they definitely want her to bring some pictures of Worcestershire with her.”
