OMBERSLEY Endowed First School and Nursery is holding its annual summer fair this Saturday with the children keeping up a tradition which dates back more than a century.

Children will be performing for visitors by dancing around a maypole, something they have done every year since the school opened in 1876.

The entire summer fair will have an Olde England theme, with a parents tug of war competition, a tombola, a coconut shy and hook-a-duck. There will also be pony rides, face painting, a bouncy castle and representatives from the local fire service and police force.

Refreshments on offer will include a bar, Indian food, tea and cakes, ice-creams and a barbecue.

Headteacher, Caroline Moore said: “Our summer fair is always a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. It’s a lovely way to mingle and have fun with other friends and families and raises much needed funds for our school. We hope you will be able to join us.”

The summer fair is organised by the Friends of Ombersley School, with all money raised going towards additional resources for the school.

Entry to the summer fair is £1 for adults and free for children, and includes a programme with the chance of being entered into a prize draw.
