FOR people in Droitwich Spa living with dementia or helping someone else with the condition there’s an evening of advice and help on offer this Thursday as part of Dementia Awareness Week.

The event, which is taking place at Droitwich Library, from 7-8.30pm will include a free hour-long Dementia Friends session.

Dementia Friends is available to anyone in the community who wants to learn more about how they can help people with dementia to cope in their everyday lives. It was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding surrounding the condition and to help prevent the loneliness and social exclusion that people with dementia can experience.

After the session there will be a talk from David Pearson, about his experiences caring for his wife Judy, who has dementia.

‘The David and Judy Dementia Tour’ will start at 8pm, and organisers hope it will prove a good opportunity to find out about local support services for people affected by dementia.
