THE Droitwich Spa Town Council is organising its ‘Sunday Proms’ at the Lido Park bandstand again this summer, with a programme of live performances planned every Sunday from mid May to the beginning of September.

The first concert, featuring the Alcester Victoria Silver Band, will be taking place on Sunday, May 10 from 2.30-4.30pm at the Lido bandstand, and the concerts will be at the same time every week with a number of jazz orchestras and brass bands among the line up for the events.

The concerts are free and people are invited to bring chairs out to the park, and even make an afternoon of it with a picnic, or just stop by in the middle of a walk.

The Lido Cafe will also be open during all of the concerts, selling refreshments, and the Lido Poll will be open from May 23.

As well as the Alcester Victoria Silver Band, May will see Tenbury Teme Valley, the Central England Concert Band, and Shirley Band. June will bring the Arrow Valley Brass Band, Malvern Hills District Brass Band, Worcester Youth Jazz Orchestra, and Bedworth Brass.

In July there will be performances from Malvern Chase Brass Band, City of Coventry Brass, Sauce City Jazzmen, and Blackwell Concert Band, and August will bring Celebration Reed and Brass Band, Shipston Town Band, Worcester Concert Brass, and The best ‘hits’ of yester-year with Facta 3, and Case Jazzmen, before the final concert at the beginning of September with Highley Colliery Band.
