VOLUNTEERS have been helping to paint rooms at a local charity in Droitwich as part of a volunteering scheme organised by the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

The CCG Employer Supported Volunteering scheme has taken on a number of refurbishment projects at Spectrum Days, to update the facilities and further improve the services they offer, with volunteers painting the wash rooms.

The Droitwich-based charity offers specialist support to people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and their families, and the CCG staff have been spending time away from their usual jobs, and taking on the voluntary projects to help improve communication skills, build confidence, and learn more about the voluntary and community sector organisations.

Helen Perry-Smith, Engagement Manager for NHS South Worcestershire CCG said: “Spectrum Days offers such a great service to people with learning disabilities, so it was a pleasure to be able to offer our support.

“It was a good opportunity for us to have a look around and see first-hand some of the work that goes on there.

“We had a great time painting, everyone got stuck in and it looked like a completely different room when we had finished. We all benefitted from this experience and will be encouraging all the staff at the CCG to take some time out to take part in the scheme.”
