MERRY Hill has welcomed a new member to the team in the form of robot personal shopper, RoboShop.

Programmed to spot the key trends for each season, as well as featuring cutting-edge 3D-scanning technology to determine which shapes suit each shopper best, the 6ft friendly robot is being drafted in to add a new dimension to shopping at the centre.

RoboShop, who will be at the centre today (April 1) can also match shades to a shopper’s skin tone, and contains 100TB of memory to save shopper’s favourite items and stores should they make a repeat appointment.

Other functions include HD video screening of the latest catwalk shows, a searchable live catalogue of stock in Merry Hill, interactive gift guides for friends and family based on their personalities and interests, and even basic sewing skills should items need to be tailored to fit on the spot.

Rob Pickersgill, marketing manager at the Brierley Hill shopping centre, said: “We are so excited to welcome RoboShop to the centre today – his appointment comes as part of intu Merry Hill’s plan to create unique experiences for our shoppers, and we’re sure he will be a brilliant addition to the team.

“Whether you’re looking for the perfect present or a whole new wardrobe, RoboShop will be here to help.”

Sessions with RoboShop cost £20 per hour and can be booked at the customer service desk.
