A CHILD was airlifted to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after playing rugby.
The boy, aged about seven, had been playing on the Glyn Mitchell Memorial Ground, off Hanbury Road in Droitwich.
He was airlifted from the ground to Birmingham Children's Hospital at about 11.20am on Sunday.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews were called to reports of a boy who had been injured whilst playing rugby.
“Ambulance crews assessed the boy, believed to be approximately seven years of age, and treated him for a potential spinal injury.
"The boy was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
