A PIRATE ship has run aground at Sytchampton First School, much to the delight of the school’s pupils.

The ship, which is really a fabulous new boast-shaped sandpit for the youngsters, has been installed as a result of funding from the school’s PTA and an Awards4All Lottery grant.

The play area, which includes a new all-weather artificial play surface, will mean that the children now have more outside space they can use to play regardless of the weather.

Sharon Williams, headteacher at Sytchampton First School, said: “The school will benefit hugely from this additional space, particularly as we grow in pupil numbers over the next few years with our transition to becoming a primary school from September 2015.”
