DROITWICH residents are being asked to make sure they make use of council services if they need to dispose of bulky items.

Wychavon District Council provides a bulky waste collection service, which will pick up as many as two items for a fee of £19 include unwanted fridges, mattresses, radiators and washing machines.

The council is trying to discourage fly tipping, which can result in a fine of up to £5,000, by making sure people have access to an easy way to dispose of their unwanted items.

Sharon Casswell, client services manager at Wychavon District Council, said: “If residents have a bulky waste item that can’t be reused or recycled and they can’t get to the household waste site themselves, then our bulky waste collection service really is the best value for money option at just £19 for two bulky items. And by using our service you can guarantee that it will be disposed of in the proper way and not fly-tipped in some country lane, which ultimately costs the council or an innocent landowner when it comes to clearing up.”
