TICKETS have gone on sale for a popular car racing tradition, which is returning to the Chateau Impney Hotel this summer after a break of 48 years.

The Chateau Impney Hill Climb sprint first launched in 1957, organised by the Hagley and District Light Car Club, and the venue proved a popular setting for the event with its woods and lakes providing a picturesque setting for 10 years.

Amateur and professional drivers competed alongside one another in the fastest cars of the day, and across a number of different motorsport disciplines, but the event was eventually overshadowed by other hill climbs in the area, and its popularity dwindled.

In 2013 a commemorative event was organised to celebrate the Chateau’s rich motorsport heritage, and there was an increase in public interest in reviving the hill climb.

As a result the Hill Climb is returning this July with a course double the length of the original 550 yard track around the grounds, as well as a classic car auction, and the Regent Exhibition, which will bring together some class motor memorabilia and merchandise.
