TWO private day nurseries in Hanbury and Dodford have both been rated outstanding in recent Ofsted inspections.

School House Day Nursery and Chessgrove Park Day Nursery, which is based on a working dairy farm, are both part of the Woodland House Group which operates five nurseries and out of school clubs in the north of the county.

Inspections taking place on December 17 and January 5 respectively, rated both nurseries as outstanding, following an earlier ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating for another of the company’s nurseries, Woodland House in Redditch.

The inspection for School House said: “Children behave well and their positive behaviour is sensitively supported by staff, who talk with the children about sharing and taking turns at a range of activities. Staff’s in-depth knowledge of the children allows them to skilfully recognize and understand the children’s feelings and effectively address them.”

The Chessgrove Park Day Nursery inspection, said: “Children’s confidence and self-esteem are exceptionally well supported through the secure attachments they have with staff,” adding “Children are exceptionally happy, well-settled and, consequently, thrive and develop in this sensitive and nurturing environment.”

Glenis Keenan, managing director for the two nurseries, was thrilled with the results. She said: “I am so proud of our inspirational staff teams, who alongside supportive and loyal parents, contribute to ensuring that all our settings are very special environments in which our children thrive.”

The only area for improvement highlighted in the reports was for staff to ensure that information in the children’s learning records was always clear so that parents could read them independently.
