A HOUSE in Droitwich is fighting off the winter darkness with a dramatic display of seasonal lights, all to raise money for charity.

The house on Birch Coppice, has been lit up by Alison and David Battin, who have placed a collection tin outside to raise money for Acorn’s Children’s Hospice.

Mrs Battin said: “All the family enjoy putting the decorations up, which we call our grotto, and get a great sense of enjoyment watching cars pull up to have a look. We have nine inflatables, two of which are new this year including a 8ft reindeer. Normally we have to replace one or two a year as they get damaged in the rain and wind.

“It has been suggested to us we just donate the money we spend on decorations direct to charity, but watching people's faces light up is well worth the expense to us.”

People are invited to go and look at 4 Birch Coppice anytime before 9am or between 4pm and 11pm and leave a donation for the charity.
