WITTON post office has been officially reopened by the mayor of Droitwich councillor Bob Brookes with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The newly-opened post office will be providing all of the standard post office counter services from 6.30am-6pm Monday to Friday and 7.30am–1.30pm on Saturdays.

The branch had been closed since April 2013, but was re-opened following a campaign by local residents and the new postmaster Raj Patel.

Mr Patel said: “We are delighted to be welcoming customers to our newly modernised branch. We are very pleased to be officially launching it today for the community. We hope our customers like their new post office and we would like to thank the mayor for taking time from his busy schedule to come here today. We’d also like to thank the local community for their continued support and use of the branch.

“The open-plan counter makes it easier for customers and staff to talk, and the extra opening hours make it more convenient as people now have more choice as when to visit.”

Richard Lynds, post office senior stakeholder manager, added: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents around Droitwich Spa and I am confident this new modern post office will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the post office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
