TWO public toilets in Droitwich, which previously won national awards, have been entered into this year’s British Toilet Association Loo of the Year Awards.

The toilets at the Lido and in St Andrew’s Square both came away from last year’s awards with the highest rating of platinum standard.

They are awaiting unannounced visits from national inspectors, who will mark them against a number of factors, including cleanliness, safety and hygiene to see where they come in this year’s competition.

The awards are open to all types of providers of “away from home toilets”, including those involved in retail, hospitality, leisure, transport, local authorities and many more.

Sharon Casswell, client services manager at Wychavon District Council, said: “I’m so pleased once again that our toilets are meeting such very high standards. We manage our facilities well and are helped enormously by Mitie and their team. Residents and visitors alike continue to give us excellent feedback on our facilities and this is just as satisfying as any award.”

Wychavon will have to wait until the December 5 ceremony to find out if they have improved on last year’s performance which saw nine of their 12 toilets graded as platinum standard, and three as gold standard.
