A UNIVERSITY student from Droitwich has won a scholarship in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement at the University of Worcester.

James Law, who is currently studying in his third year of an accounting degree at Worcester, won the scholarship of £1,000 from the university.

He said: “It was very pleasing to have my hard work and effort recognised, and I'm grateful to be rewarded for it with a scholarship award.”

Mr Law was presented with the scholarship by the university’s vice chancellor and chief executive, Professor David Green, during two ceremonies at the University of Worcester Arena.

Professor Green added: "Congratulations to James on his achievement. Commitment combined with ability produces outstanding results and we are delighted that James is thriving here at Worcester.

“This year we were delighted to award academic scholarships to 112 students and hope to award even more next year as our students go from strength to strength.

“These scholarships are supported by generous philanthropists and the university’s distinguished honorary fellows. The award of a scholarship is excellent for a student’s job prospects as well as providing welcome practical support.

“Other scholarships awarded by firms to University of Worcester students include the opportunity for paid work placements, as well as prizes. It is only right that students who excel here at the University of Worcester are rewarded and we hope even more students will earn scholarships next year."
