AFTER more than 10 years away, a former Droitwich business owner is preparing to bring her sandwich shop back to the town, in the very same High Street building she left a decade before.

Ermi Solomou opened Ermi’s Sandwich Bar on the High Street approximately 30 years ago when she first moved over to England from Cyprus.

She sold her famed hot pork rolls to locals for around a decade, before moving back to Cyprus with her new baby, but she maintains her heart has always stayed in Droitwich.

She said: “Whenever I’m in Droitwich I feel at home, I always have done. I was born in Cyprus, but every time I come back to England to see my children I always visit Droitwich, it just feels like home.”

Ms Solomou returned to the UK recently to set up home again and spotted her old shop standing empty during a trip to the town.

She added: “The place was all closed, so I went next door to the butchers and asked what was going on. They gave me the name of the landlord and that’s it.

“It was just on a whim really. I thought I’d love to have it, I always thought of that shop as mine, it always felt as though it was mine.

“I’ve seen quite a few people and they all seem to be happy to see me there again. I always had a good relationship with my customers. At the time we used to know most of them by their first names, so I can’t wait actually, we just taking our time to do it up.”
