DROITWICH residents are being reminded of the best ways to dispose of bulky waste items from their homes.

If the items are in a good condition, there are a number of organisations across the Wychavon district which can put them to good use including Freecycle and Let’s Get Wasteless.

It’s also free to dispose of bulky items at the household recycling centre at Hanbury Wharf.

If the items are too large to move, and not in a good condition, then for a £19 fee Wychavon District Council will collection up to two large items.

Sharon Casswell, client services manager at Wychavon District Council, said: “There are so many straightforward and convenient ways to ensure that bulky waste items are disposed of in the right way and not fly-tipped in some country lane, which ultimately costs the council or an innocent landowner when it comes to clearing up.

“And when it comes to getting rid of their bulky waste, residents need to be aware that they have a duty of care and a legal responsibility to ensure that only registered waste carriers collect their waste. They should always ask to see the waste carrier’s licence and make a note of the number. They should also ask for a company headed receipt and note down the vehicle’s registration number.”

To arrange to have large items collected, call FCC Environment on 01386 760145 between 9am and 5pm, from Monday to Friday. For more information on Wychavon’s waste collection services, call 01386 565018.
