A WALKING group which operates in Droitwich has been officially recognised by the organisation Walking for Health.

Spa Walkers organises short walks for new walkers, designed to boost confidence, and support them to get active and stay active.

The group was awarded a national accreditation for its local walking scheme, endorsing the quality of the experience and support on hand for the Droitwich walkers.

Mike Skan, scheme coordinator for Spa Walkers, said: “We’re delighted our short walks have been accredited by Walking for Health. Our volunteer walk leaders help all sorts of people to enjoy the many health benefits that regular walking brings, providing support every step of the way.

“Our walkers have a great deal of fun, making new friends and getting to know their local area. Many of us know we should be more active, so why not join in and let us welcome you along to our next walk.”

Spa Walkers run walks that should last no more than 90 minutes, with at least one walk that takes less than 30 minutes organised every month.

The group’s walks visit various different locations around Droitwich including Salwarpe Church, Westwood House and Dodderhill Church, and the group meets at Droitwich Leisure Centre for short, healthy sociable walks around Droitwich.
